Biosketch for Dr. B. Nikhil Domun

Dr. B. Nikhil Domun is a native of Rivière du Poste, located in the South-East of Mauritius.  He attended Royal College of Port Louis Grammar School from 2000 – 2006.  His desire to serve brought him to Bordeaux, France where he earned his M.D. degree.  Over the last 4 years, he has completed a highly successful fellowship in Diabetology, Endocrinology & Metabolism at Brest University Hospital in the North-West of France. Dr. Domun is passionate about clinical research.  During his 4 years fellowship with Prof. Veronique Kerlan and under the supervision of Dr. Nathalie Roudaut, he worked on an important metabolism project by monitoring 12 Type 1 diabetes patients who ran the Paris 2016 marathon by using continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMs). He also investigated the prevalence of diabetes and metabolic characteristics of Dunnigan Syndrome (Familial Partial Lipodystrophy Type II) in Reunion Island with Prof. Estelle Nobecourt. In addition to his French State Diploma (DES France) in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases, he also holds two specialized diplomas, namely Pituitary diseases from ‘CHU Le Kremlin Bicêtre (Université Paris-Sud XI) and The Diabetic Foot from ‘CHU Pitié Salpêtrière (Université Pierre et Marie Curie Paris VI). Dr. Domun is off to be an attending specialist in November 2018 in Diabetology, Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Saint Benoit Hospital in Reunion Island, a dependency of France in the Indian Ocean, sister island of his homeland.
