Dr. Sheel J. Saxena is the director of Adult Medicine at the South Boston Community Health Center (SBCHC) in Boston, Massachusetts. The SBCHC provides over 60,000 service visits a year to almost half of South Boston’s population.

In his capacity as director, Dr. Saxena, besides seeing patients full time, teaches residents from the Boston University Internal Medicine Residency program, coordinates implementation of the health center based Hepatitis C clinic, as well as participate in quality improvement on CNCD (chronic non-communicable diseases; related preventable conditions of type II diabetes, stroke and cardiovascular diseases). Dr. Saxena is on faculty at the Boston University School of Medicine Community Medicine Unit. Dr. Saxena is board certified in Internal Medicine. He received his M.D. for Tufts University, after which he completed his residency at Boston University. He holds a Bachelors of Science in Applied Mathematics and Biology from Brown University where he graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Saxena grew up in Framingham, Massachusetts, located 25 miles west of Boston. He is married with three children and remains an avid Boston sports fan. Dr. Saxena Personal Note.
