Biosketch for Dr. Guru Bhoojhawon

Dr Guru V. Bhoojhawon is a Pediatric Hospitalist at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa, United States. He specializes in the care of hospitalized infants, children and adolescents. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor and is involved in the education of medical students at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. The Carver College of Medicine is a highly ranked medical school and is part of University of Iowa Health Care, Iowa’s only comprehensive academic medical center.

Dr Bhoojhawon is board certified in General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and provides clinical care in the newborn nursery as well as the general pediatric wards.

Dr Bhoojhawon graduated from the Royal College, Curepipe in Mauritius. He completed his medical education at the University of Mauritius, following which he worked at the Victoria Hospital and Princess Margaret Orthopedic Centre in Mauritius for 2 years. He then pursued a pediatric residency at the Texas A&M’s Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr Bhoojhawon grew up in Quatre-Bornes, Mauritius. He currently lives in Iowa City, Iowa. He enjoys reading, jogging, and cooking.
